Changes to council services during coronavirus

Details of changes to council services in line with national guidance to manage the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19). We will continue to update it, so check back here regularly for the latest information.

Customer services

If you can make your enquiry online through our website, please do so.

You can also email us at Customer Services or you can call us at 0300 300 0300.

Our Customer service centres in Paisley, Johnstone and Renfrew are closed for in-person services.

Enquiries relating to Council Tax, rent payments for Council tenancies and Blue Badge applications are not available at the customer service centres. You can complete these online at MyAccount.

Bins, waste and recycling

If you are sick or self-isolating, you should take extra precautions when disposing of your waste - including keeping any tissues, wipes or similar items separate, double bagging them and leaving them for 72 hours before putting with your other waste.

We're not able to conduct any face-to-face meetings, but you can still contact us on the website. More detailed information is available at Planning and building standards.

The Council and Scottish and UK Governments have put in place measures to support the business community.

Our jobs and employability hub at the Russell Institute in Paisley is closed but all of our advisors are working from home and are available to help.

Financial support during coronavirus

The Coronavirus outbreak has created or increased financial hardship for many. The Scottish and UK Governments have introduced schemes to provide financial support at this difficult time.

If you have concerns around paying your bills, mortgage or council tax, there is free, impartial and confidential advice available at Financial support during coronavirus.

Health and social care

Changes to health and social care services, including social work, care homes and day centres, are on the Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership website.

Social work offices are closed but social workers can make visits or give advice and assistance over the phone.

You can call Social Work during normal weekday hours on 0300 300 1199.

Outside these hours or in an emergency, call 0300 343 1505.

Housing and accommodation

Anyone who becomes homeless in Renfrewshire can contact our team 24/7 by calling 0800 121 4466.

The Abercorn Street and George Street buildings are currently closed.

We can only respond to emergency home repair requests for the moment. If you need this service, call 0300 300 0300. 

The Homexchange Shop at Moss Street is closed but you can contact our team at 0300 300 0222.
